CommentsI'm not sure if this is an MDFCTA trough. It is the same size and design as an MDFCTA trough but lacks an inscription. The name "George Clay" in the inscription doesn't appear in the MDFCTA records. Another trough presented by George Clay is at Clayton Hall, Manchester. Does anyone know the history and provenance of this trough? Who was George Clay? I'm sure this is NOT the trough that appears in the MDFCTA records as erected in Chester Market Place in 1948 as the gift of The Association. The trough that was moved to Chester Cattle Market from Kempton Park Racecourse had a fountain head.
